Regarding to Estonia’s integration to the euro, the Consumer Protection Board of Estonia monitors prices in stores and in service companies. Since April 2010 the CPB has expanded the price survey and added cities , products and services to our project. The price survey includes 19 shops in 5 cities – Tallinn, Tartu, Viljandi, Jõhvi and Kuressaare. In april the prices of dairy products have increased. For example the avarage price of the cheapest milk (2,5%) in plastic package was 7,90 kroons in May (in April – 7 kroons). As much as the milk increased the price of the cheapest kefir (in plastic package). 10% cream that costed in April 2,60 kroons, was in May 4,40 kroons. The lowest price of sour cream (20%) increased ca twenty cents in May. Some changes have taken places in vegetable’s prices. For example fresh cucumber’s price fell 31,6% and was 18 kroons per kilo in May (that is the avarage price). Kilo of tomatoes costed 25,70 kroons in May. In addition to food products the CPB watches the prices of different services – shoe repair, bank services, hairdresser’s services, taxi etc. For example repairing shoes in Tallinn is three times more expensive than in Kuressaare. Hairdresser’s services are three times cheaper in Viljandi than they are in Tallinn. For example – woman’s haircut in Intersalon (Tallinn) costs 382 kroons, in Meie Salong (Viljandi) 85 kroons. A cup of coffee can be bought with 15-25 kroons in Tallinn. In Viljandi you can enjoy coffee with 9-10 kroons per cup. The monthly price survey is published in CPB’s website : http://www.tka.riik.ee/hinnavaatlused-2/ Archive |
