22. Results of the supervision and counselling work done by the Consumer Protection Board in April 2010
In April consumers turned to the CPB in 2687 times (through complaints, phone calls and written inquiries). The beforementioned number in april 2009 was 1914. The main subject of complaints remains the same – an internet trading, techical goods, tourism services etc.
The consumers presented the board with 118 appeals , including 53 about commerce and 65 about services. The consumers and entrepreneurs made 507 written inquiries in April. 101 of them were about commerce, 240 about different services and rest of them were about commercials, food products etc.
Over the CPB information and counselling phone 6 201 707 and 1330 there were 2062 cases of counselling conducted in April (in last year’s april – 1188 phone calls). Problems with industrial goods were presented in 738 cases, problems with services in 726 cases. Calls regarding foodstuff were made in April on 60 cases. 23 calls were related to commercials.
The Consumer Protection Board issued in April 445 inspection reports to retail and service companies. During the check up 64 misdemeanour decisions in a total amount of 36 470 kroons were made.
The Consumer Complaint Committee conducted 24 meetings in April. 8 decisions were made for satisfaction of the consumer, 4 dismissal of the complaint, 3 for partial satisfaction, 6 complaints were out of competency of the committee.
In April the CPB checked gas stations over Estonia to make sure that while refueling the car the quantity of fuel is right. The CPB checked 17 different gas stations, but no infringements were found. The CPB will continue fuel measurments in June.
