41. Results of the supervision and counselling work done by the Consumer Protection Board in November 2009

 

In November consumers complained more over mobile services, especially over those that offer different wallpapers, mobile ringtones, games etc. There is also one enterprise that needs to be mentioned – Doorland OÜ (offers doors and windows) that did not fill consumers orders in time.

The Consumer Protection Board (CPB) issued in November 421 inspection reports to retail and service companies. During the check up 5 injunction and 105 misdemeanour decisions in a total amount of 74 860 kroons were made.

The consumers presented the board with 154 appeals, including 78 about commerce and 73 about services. The consumers and entrepreneurs made 521 written inquiries in November. 143 of them were about commerce, 244 about different services and rest of them were about commercials, food products etc.

In November there were more complaints about internet-trading and construction services. As for commerce – the first place goes to technical goods – home appliances, computers etc.

Over the CPB information and counselling phone 6 201 707 there were 1310 cases of counselling conducted in November. Problems with industrial goods were presented in 659 cases, problems with services in 506 cases. Calls regarding foodstuff were made in November on 32 cases. 38 calls were related to commercials.

About twenty consumers have been complained about the Doorland OÜ, that did not fill their orders in time and did not return their prepayment.

The Consumer Protection Board has repeatedly tried to find a compromise with Doorland OÜ, but fecklessly. By today 10 complaints have been resolved, but complaints regarding Doorland OÜ still keep coming. Until now the Doorland OÜ has repeatedly delayed the time limit. According to information that the CPB has received, the Doorland OÜ have not stopped taking new orders from consumers.

Andres Sooniste – the director general of the CPB – promises that the CPB will try every opportunity to resolve that problem.
